Imaging software expert Kadir broadens Mirada’s capabilities

Medical imaging and diagnostic specialist Mirada Medical is gearing itself for further expansion by naming Dr Timor Kadir in the new role of Chief Science and Technology Officer

The appointment reinforces Mirada’s position as a leading provider of multi-modal reading software, enabling images from different diagnostic procedures to be reviewed, compared and combined to provide a more complete and quantifiable knowledge of the patient’s condition.

It also supports the company’s strategy of broadening the scope of its existing products, adding new software to its portfolio and expanding its customer base. The company has been steadily increasing its work with clinicians across the world, including in major centres in North America, Europe and Asia.

Dr Kadir explained: “Mirada is already recognised for its market-leading software applications such as FusionXD and Fusion7D, which are used world-wide by radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiation oncologists and researchers. Part of my role will be to define future strategy for the company’s software technology, both by enhancing existing products and introducing entirely new applications to the market.”

He added: “I will also seek clinical collaborations for Mirada, for example through clinical trials at hospitals or by working with clinics to improve the range of technological features and introduce new ideas.”

Dr Kadir, who obtained a PhD from Oxford University’s renowned medical vision laboratory, has more than a decade’s experience of researching and developing clinical applications which combine information from multiple sources and images.

His most recent work has included the development of leading-edge PET/CT oncology applications for use with high-definition scanners. However, he is also an expert in patenting, enabling him to spearhead Mirada’s moves to protect any new products or applications that are brought to market.

Mirada Medical Chief Executive Hugh Bettesworth said: “I am delighted to welcome Dr Timor Kadir to our company. He has a proven track record in leading the technological development of today’s foremost imaging software solutions. His expertise sits perfectly with Mirada’s philosophy of combining innovation and experience to solve today’s most important clinical problems.”

Mr Bettesworth added: “Dr Kadir’s outstanding work is already well known to the Mirada team, thanks to his achievements at Oxford University’s medical vision lab where he studied under the supervision of Professor Sir Michael Brady, Mirada’s founder and current director. He has also served as a consultant to Mirada on a number of occasions.”

In addition to providing consultancy services to Mirada, Dr Kadir has worked in research roles for organisations including Motorola Ltd, the University of Oxford’s Department of Engineering Science, CTI Molecular Imaging and Siemens Healthcare.
