CAST – this year's must-have Christmas Gift

CAST, founded by brothers James and Luke Cottingham, have launched a range of ingenious jewellery making kits, the world's first, which give regular people with little or no experience the unique opportunity to design and make bespoke items of jewellery.

Using the kit and following simple instructions, people can craft their very own ring, pair of earrings, or necklace pendant in jewellers’ wax. You then post the wax moulds to the CAST workshop where they are cast in gold, silver or platinum. Each piece is finished by hand and returned to spec within three weeks.

CAST was originally created as a fun event where people can meet up to wine, dine and have a fabulous unique jewellery memento of the occasion. Now the CAST team have taken the concept a step further and launched a complete range of jewellery making kits, equipped with tools and instructions, so you can now make unique items of jewellery in the comfort of your own home.

They would make the perfect Christmas or birthday gift. You could simply give the kit as a present, or buy one and then design your very own bespoke piece of jewellery for that special person in your life.

James, an ex-professional footballer, says: “Ultimately, our aim is to change the way we make, and now shop, jewellery. High-end, bespoke jewellery can now be designed and handmade by regular people. You don’t need any experience or design skills, literally anyone can use our kits to make their own special piece of jewellery."

Says Luke: “Our kits come with the tools and jewellers’ wax and simple instructions on how to carve and manipulate the wax to design a unique piece of jewellery. The waxes are sent to us to be cast in our workshop. Each piece is meticulously finished by hand, and the beauty is that no one jewellery piece will ever be the same. Our kits give people the opportunity to create something of their own, literally anywhere in the world.”

The CAST operation is based in the brothers’ hometown of Sheffield.
