De Boer appoints specialist to oversee London 2012 business
De Boer, a leading international supplier of temporary structures, has appointed Edward Gallagher to spearhead the company’s efforts to develop business opportunities around London 2012.
Gallagher was previously a key member of the Olympic Host Boroughs Unit (HBU), an organisation formed by the local authorities of Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest, after London successfully won the 2012 bid. As a Senior Manager with the HBU, his role involved delivering programmes which ensure East London residents and businesses can derive maximum benefits from the Games. Gallagher’s appointment as De Boer’s Lead Programme Manager for London 2012 means he will be responsible for all aspects of managing and developing the company’s relationships with the Olympic Delivery Authority, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and other members of the ‘Olympic Family’ including the five Host Boroughs. He will monitor business opportunities, oversee bids and co-ordinate projects De Boer secures in the run-up to 2012 to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget as well as meet the wide-ranging additional requirements including employment, skills and community engagement. De Boer UK Managing Director Peter Spruce says Gallagher’s appointment is an important addition to the company’s management team. He said: “London 2012 offers an excellent opportunity for De Boer to develop its business in the UK market, and at the same time to showcase the quality of our structures on another world stage. Since London successfully won the bid to host the 2012 Games, Edward has been liaising with all the major organisations and interested parties that will be working to deliver a fantastic Olympics. His skill and knowledge will be invaluable as we seek to develop strong Olympic partnerships and deliver key infrastructure for the Games.”
