Double header for De Boer at Chelsea venue

A temporary exhibition site in the centre of London created by De Boer will house two prestigious events this autumn.

Two giant Jumbo Halls covering more than 11,000 square metres will house Decorex International 2009, the leading interior design show staged over four days from September 27th to September 30th.

Thousands of visitors attending the show at the Royal Hospital Gardens in Chelsea will find out all they need to know about the world of interior design – including fabrics and wall coverings, traditional and bespoke furniture, floor coverings, lighting and a vast range of other accessories and exclusive services.

Organised by United Business Media plc, Decorex International has positioned itself as the UK’s premier design exhibition with the event becoming a ‘must-visit’ show for interior and hotel designers, retailers and architects to source products and view inspired concepts.

The 2009 exhibition is the 32nd Decorex International and organisers have introduced a new theme for this year’s event based on ‘treasured possessions’. Seminars aimed at encouraging visitors to think about favourite items and the history, significance and value behind them will be staged along with a full programme of talks from leading industry figures as well as a celebration of the golden anniversary of the Inchbald School of Design.

De Boer creates a bespoke exhibition venue complete with exhibition halls, restaurants, café, kitchens and reception areas to cater for up to 10,000 visitors expected to attend the extravaganza.

Cathy Oates, UBM’s Events and Business Developments Director, says: “This is a wonderful show set in a very special riverside location at the Royal Hospital Gardens. De Boer’s high-quality structures allow us the flexibility to provide all the facilities that you would normally associate with a permanent venue.”

Once Decorex International 2009 closes, structures will remain on site to house the popular Art London Fair which runs over five days from October 8 to October 12. New exhibitors this year come from afar afield as Australia, United States of America, Hong Kong and Argentina to complement works on display from countries including India, Japan, China and a strong contingent of Aboriginal art.

John Cochrane, De Boer’s Sales Director – Events, says: “Hosting back-to-back events on the location in the same structures is an innovative way for organisations to keep down their overheads in these difficult economic times whilst at the same time maintaining the highest quality for their exhibitors and visitors.”
