Cheshire firm receives global recognition for clean technologyA specialist technology firm based at The Heath Business and Technical Park in Runcorn has received international recognition as one of the cleanest technology companies on the planet. ACAL Energy Ltd, the leading developer of innovative fuel cell technology, is one of just 13 UK companies named in the ‘Global Cleantech 100’ listings, published by Guardian News and Media and the Cleantech Group. Overall some 3,500 businesses worldwide were scrutinised for inclusion in the prestigious list. ACAL was formed in 2004 by Dr Andrew Creeth and moved to The Heath in 2006. It now has a team of 25 conducting cutting-edge research at its headquarters on the popular science park. Dr Peter Cook, Managing Director of SOG Ltd which owns and operates The Heath, said he was delighted one of the resident businesses had received such prestigious recognition.
