'Deal With It' safety training programme reaps rewards for Domino UK
Runcorn: November 10, 2015: One of the UK's leading printing manufacturing companies based in Bootle, Merseyside, has received an award in recognition of exceptional safety improvements.
Employees at Domino have taken part in Deal With It courses run by Cheshire-based health and safety specialists SOG Ltd. SOGs Deal With It is a highly successful and well-established programme which helps to influence staff attitudes to health and safety through cultural changes in the workplace, creating safer environments in which to operate.
SOG has run a two-year programme at Dominos Bootle plant from 2013-2015. Helen Schoelzel, Deal With It Senior Manager, has presented an award to key members of Dominos team who have formed the Champions Team within the company as ambassadors for health and safety.
Helen Schoelzel said: We wanted to acknowledge the importance of the role played by Dominos Champions team in fostering and sustaining a sound safety culture on site.
Dave Jenkinson, Operations Manager, Domino UK Ltd, said: The site has made great strides over the past two years, becoming best in class within the Domino Group on SHE related processes. I am very proud of whole teams attitude to SHE continuing to be our number one priority, ensuring we keep everyone safe. The Champions passion and support has played a big part in our success. Thank you to everyone and lets continue raising the bar.
Bernie Straiton, SHE Manager, Domino UK Ltd said: The relationship with SOG is one of partnership. They work alongside us identifying the gaps and suggesting the solutions. The trainers are excellent, with an open and honest approach. They not only work with SHE but also live it, i.e. talk the talk and walk the walk. I have so much admiration for their creativity as both practitioners and trainers.
The Deal With It programme in the UK has been used by numerous leading businesses including Imperial Tobacco, Johnson Matthey, Fujifilm, Premier Foods and Meggitt Polymers. To enable its use internationally the programme has been translated into more than 20 different languages. SOGs trainers can deliver Deal With It direct to employees or companies can operate the programme themselves under licence. More/2
