Neptunus in the saddle at 2016 UCI World Track Cycling Championships
Neptunus has built a VIP hospitality facility for the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships taking place at Lee Valley VeloPark, London from 2-6 March.
Sports Travel and Hospitality appointed Neptunus to create a dedicated pavilion alongside the velodrome, situated in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, to accommodate 150 guests each day across the five days of competition.
A 21-strong team of Britains top cyclists including Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavandish and Laura Trott are competing against the worlds leading riders to battle for 12 gold medals up for grabs in individual and team events. Over 50,000 spectators are attending the championships with home supporters hoping of a repeat performance of London 2012 where British riders won nine Olympic medals.
The 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships is one of the biggest international sporting events in the UK this year with many of the riders heading for Rio de Janeiro in the summer for the 2016 Olympic Games.
April Trasler, Neptunus Managing Director, said: We are delighted to have been appointed to provide the VIP facility at this prestigious international sporting event. Its particularly nice to be back at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where Neptunus provided so many facilities at London 2012.
Claire Martin, Operations Director of Sports Travel and Hospitality, said: We have an excellent relationship with Neptunus who have supplied us with very high quality structures to our major sporting events, enabling us to create the kind of top class environment and experience that our guests expect in our renowned hospitality pavilions.
The VIP facility, known as the VeloPark Pavilion, has been created within a 450 square metre Alure Globe structure that includes a reception area, dining room and exhibition space. It took eight technicians just five days to build the facility with Neptunus also responsible for co-ordinating services including power, toilets, trackway, fencing, roof linings and floor coverings.
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships were first held in Chicago in 1893 and are now held annually in different country each year under rules of the Union Cycliste Internationale.
