une 4th, 2026: Young players get the opportunity of a lifetime to compete in the ultimate soccer experience with 219 Sports football tours to the USA.

NEWS RELEASE

The sports agency, which specialises in placing UK student-athletes on scholarships throughout America, is taking groups of youngsters on Showcase Tours. These combine top class games with training and cultural activities so participants can test out the sporting opportunities and lifestyle the US soccer college scene provides.

A recent 10-day tour to California gave students the chance to compete against colleges in San Francisco and Los Angeles. They got the opportunity to go behind the scenes of world-class sporting facilities and explore the famous beaches, attractions and entertainment experiences.

Callum Greenfield, 18, from Nuneaton was part of the squad. He loved the whole experience and is thrilled it has earned him a scholarship to an elite US university. Callum, who previously attended Higham Lane School, currently plays and is studying a triple B-tec in sport at Etone Football & Education Academy.

Callum (pictured right) says: “I loved the tour. The training and facilities were top class, up there with the best and a brilliant environment to play in. A totally different level of football. I met the best group of people and loved playing with them. I have made friendships for life. Plus, I enjoyed seeing all the famous bits.”

Football is Callum’s big passion and has been a huge part of his life since he started playing at age six.

He found out about 219 Sports and the tours via Instagram when he saw a post from its founder Tom Baker. Callum adds: “I thought it would be a great idea to go on one of the tours and my Mum really pushed me to go — and here we are. I got spotted by coaches at Los Angeles Mission College during our match against them. I’m now about to head off to achieve my dream of playing and studying in the States. I’m going to study for a degree in Kinesiology, advanced science and body movements.

“I was keen to go to the States to play and study but before meeting Tom and going on the tour I had no idea how to go about getting there. The tour turned into the perfect opportunity to meet the right people and try out the lifestyle.”

Callum says Tom is an amazing person who gives a lot and wants everyone to achieve their goals and dreams. “He is passionate about people and helping them to achieve their dreams. He wants everyone to have the opportunity to live their best life. He has helped me to change my life. I am counting down the days to heading to the States in August. The lifestyle is amazing, people are really friendly and the weather is fab — what’s not to like.”

Tom Baker (left), Manging Director of 219 Sports, says: “Since launching 219 Sports Showcase Tours in 2025, the opportunities and scholarship offers that have come through for our student-athletes have been wonderful to witness. The California tour was our second and we have just returned from an eight-day trip to New York, where students had to chance to compete against colleges across the state including Iona and Long Island universities. It was another huge success.

“I’m so happy to report that from the first two tours to Orlando and California, 12 of the participants have secured scholarships to prestigious universities across the US. However, while the tours exist to open doors, academically and athletically - they've always been about more than just soccer. They're a chance for our student-athletes to see new places and meet people they simply wouldn't have crossed paths with otherwise. Providing scholarship opportunities is at the heart of everything we do, but the memories made along the way can also be life changing."

About 219 Sports
Tom Baker, who was born in Liverpool and whose family still live in the City Region, founded 219 Sports in 2020 to change the way talented UK athletes earn scholarships in the United States. He wanted to offer a service that puts UK students first, not just an agency where they become a numbers game.

After four years of studying and playing soccer at the University of Charleston in West Virginia, Tom saw the size and scale of sporting environments in the US and how life-changing the opportunity can be. However, he also knew from his own personal experience that it lacked the vital ongoing support. Tom has picked out the good bits that other firms offer and added knowledge from his own experience to ensure that 219 Sports provides an unbeatable service.

So far, it has placed more than 200 student athletes across 30 plus American states, securing more than $5million worth of funding.
