The Heath Business and Technical Park is the go-to location for small businesses

Widely regarded as one of the UK's most successful independently owned business and technical parks, The Heath in Runcorn also remains the go-to location in the North-West for small and start-up businesses.

Home to more than 125 businesses that between them support over 2,000 jobs, The Heath and has this month welcomed several small new ventures on to site.

Angela Moffat originally launched KM Business and Media Solutions three years ago from her home in Runcorn. Angela, who formerly worked for several companies in administration and PA roles, launched her own business as a ‘Virtual Assistant’ offering admin and social media support to the self-employed and small firms, and has now taken office space at The Heath to keep pace with growth.

She says: “I selected The Heath because it is local to me with a good reputation and is great value for money. I knew all about the business park as I grew up in Runcorn and I have been to many events here over the years. My target audience are people who are self-employed and business owners who need to free up time to enable them to run their operations. I can help with lots of the day-to-day necessities such as general admin duties, call answering service, social media management, Email marketing, customer services, sales support, email management and even designing documents or typing invoices.

“It’s great to be in an environment with so many other small and SME businesses working side by side and it allows me to move to the next level. My aim is to ultimately grow the business by taking on more customers and employing staff in the near future, and The Heath gives me the option to take more space as and when necessary.”

Zoe Crimes Business Support has also taken office space at The Heath as a base to offer specialist digital support services to start-up businesses and budding entrepreneurs.

Zoe also takes the strain out of small business operations with ‘Virtual Assistant’ admin support, building and maintaining websites, Search Engine Optimisation, social media management, project management and systems & operations support.
An experienced office manager who was made redundant in the pandemic, Zoe was spurred on to create her own business in August 2020 as she saw more businesses moving online and she saw an opportunity to maximise her diverse skills set. Now she has moved into an office at The Heath to enable her operation to expand.

She says: “Although I am a one-man band, I do have support from a network of experienced freelancers for specific projects and I anticipate employing full time staff next year. My target audience is small businesses, usually start-ups and solo entrepreneurs, in need of support to help them grow. I also support offline projects too, helping my clients with welcome packs for their customers and producing Point Of Sale materials.”

Zoe adds: “The Heath was always at the forefront of my mind as a base. My mum worked in the building from when she was 16, through to her retirement, when it was the home of ICI (Ineos/Inovyn). So, I’ve always been aware of the site. Then back in 2015, I worked for a company, CAL Sameday, which was based here, so I got to see first-hand what was on offer for small businesses.
“The Heath is fantastic for small businesses. For me personally, I don’t need a large office at the moment but knowing that there’s potential for growth it was a no-brainer. Also, having the restaurant/café on site as somewhere I can take clients to for a chat and conference rooms for training days, it has everything that I could need.”
Lesley Banks, Sales and Marketing Manager at The Heath, says: “We have several new residents taking space in the New Year and both of these customers reflect the fact that The Heath Business and Technical Park remains the go-to location for small or start-up businesses. The Heath allows them to grow, as and when they require additional space, but is also very cost-effective with great support services and very high-quality facilities that give small firms the kind of back-up you would normally associate with large or corporate businesses.”
