Lakeside director Barbara Potter is named 'Queen' of prestigious show-business charity

Surrey business woman Barbara Potter has been appointed 'Queen Ratling' of the prestigious show-business charity The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings.

Barbara, a director of the Lakeside Leisure Complex at Frimley Green, joined The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings in 2004. Now the Order has bestowed its ultimate accolade on her with the title ‘Queen Ratling’.
She will hold the office for a year in which she will preside over the organisation’s various Lodges and oversee its charitable work.

Barbara supports numerous national and local charities including Variety Club Children and Breast Cancer Care.

The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings is a unique show-business organisation that was founded in 1929 and welcomes performers and all those connected with the theatrical profession. Renowned for their charitable work, Lady Ratlings come from a range of different backgrounds with members including actors, singers, dancers, circus performers, magicians, agents and other people who are directly connected with the TV, film and theatre industry.

A former model, Barbara joined Lakeside Country Club in 1976 as a part-time cocktail waitress and worked her way up to be a key executive in the entertainment empire owned by her impresario husband. In 2011 she received the Freedom of the City of London and then went on to join the Worshipful Company of Carmen.

Barbara, a mother of one and grandmother of two, is particularly proud of being a member of the Lady Ratlings. She says: “The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings is a wonderful organisation which works tirelessly to support good causes. I was delighted when I became a member 14 years ago and now I am absolutely thrilled to have been given the great honour of being Queen Ratling for 2018.”
