Firms choose 'professional and supportive' service at The Heath

The award-winning Heath Business and Technical Park has welcomed three new firms to its laboratories and offices.

Lesley Lunt, Sales and Marketing Manager at The Heath, said: “The summer season was very busy with new businesses moving on site, and a number of existing residents moving to larger premises. We are delighted that companies from a diverse field of industries and specialisms choose The Heath and look forward to working with them as they grow their business.”

ASI Solutions, experts in the supply and application of Specialist Preservation Treatments for asphalt surfaces and polymer modification systems, has taken a 369 sq.ft laboratory for its research and development facility.

Technical Director Paul Acock said he was very happy to be up and running at The Heath, having moved onsite in April.

“The lab itself is very good and the facilities were such that we could pretty much move in and get going straight away. All of The Heath’s services are very good; the conference facilities are great for our board meetings, the restaurant is convenient and serves good food, the staff are very friendly. I think the postal service is very good, actually. Post is delivered to the door and you can send anything you need to post back with the delivery person. I don’t even need to leave the lab.”

He added: “Our head office is in Milton Keynes but the nature of our work means that, although quite a small company of around 15 people, we are dotted around the South and working in different areas. I live in Northwich, so one of the key benefits to come from opening this laboratory is its locality and how that will help to speed up our research and development. But also, many of the businesses we work with are based in this region and, as we work globally as well, the access to Liverpool and Manchester airports is great too.

“Road links are also good, and set to improve further with the opening of the new Mersey Gateway over the Mersey, so we are well placed here.”

ChatterBug Speech and Language Therapy Services took over its new office at the business and technical park in early September, having just won the contract to provide children’s language and speech services in the Halton area.

“The Heath was able to meet all of our business needs and within a tight turnaround time. SOG’s staff have been instrumental in getting our offices ready, enabling us to run planned inductions for around 25 people. We have found them to be very responsive and they work quickly, which has been very important for us,” says Asma Khanum, Consultant Speech and Language Therapist, who also values the good accessibility to the park and its on-site security.

Dr Himanshu Kataria, CEO of Clyz Lab, said The Heath offered the cost-effective, professional and supportive service he needed to establish his start-up biotechnology firm, the UK’s first Chemosensitivity Laboratory.

Working in the field of precision medicine, Dr Kataria is seeking to enhance cancer treatments to optimise the right treatment for a specific cancer in particular patients — improving quality of life and saving lives.

“Everyone at The Heath has been very supportive,” says Dr Kataria, “which is just what I needed as a start-up. They’ve taken this project, organised all of the costs — which were very reasonable - and been very professional in helping me to establish the laboratory.”
