Marvellous londoneast-uk has key role in Dr Strange movie

londoneast-uk business and technical park features on the big screen once again after the location was used to film scenes for Marvel Comic's movie of super-hero Dr Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Dr Strange production unit was based at londoneast-uk in Dagenham, east London, for four weeks in November last year as filming took place in two buildings on the Park — one of them brilliantly transformed into a hospital for a key part of the story-line. In the movie Cumberbatch takes on the role of Stephen Strange a neurosurgeon who turns to mystic arts to rebuild his life after losing the use of his hands in a career-ending car accident.
More than 250 crew, actors and extras took part in the filming at londoneast-uk amid tight security as it was the first time that scenes were shot with Cumberbatch in his Dr Strange costume. The movie was filmed in Nepal, the UK and New York City.

Ian Williams, londoneast-uk’s Accommodation Service Manager, said: “londoneast-uk was a hive of activity throughout November last year with the film’s art department and set designers working virtually round the clock to get everything prepared for the shoot days. The production unit was based on our site for four weeks including the wardrobe and the computer generated imagery departments. One of our buildings was brilliantly turned into a hospital for some of the key scenes and the workmanship of the crews was truly mind-blowing with amazing attention to detail.

“It was the first time that Benedict Cumberbatch wore his Dr Strange costume and there was extremely tight security during filming to ensure no photographs were leaked ahead of the film’s release. londoneast-uk has since received high praise from the director and the production crew for the way our team handled the crew working on the production with great enthusiasm and professionalism, and also helped to safeguard the integrity and sensitivity of this very prestigious film project.”

Londoneast-ukis a popular location for film production companies with a host of movies and television programmes shot at the site. londoneast-uk has featured in prime time TV dramas including Channel Four’s Humans, ITV’s Code of a Killer and BBC drama New Blood. It was also a key location for the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie.
