Stunning façade covers Neptunus double deck structure

Northampton: September 23, 2016: Neptunus has built a double deck structure with a difference for designjunction 2016, the leading international design show being staged at Kings Cross in London from September 22-26.

Visitors to the show which forms part of London Design Festival 2016 won’t recognise the building as a temporary structure because the frontage has been covered with a spectacular state-of-the-art façade created by leading architectural firm Satellite Architects in conjunction with Danish design specialists Icons of Denmark.
At seven metres high the scaffold-like grid system consists of over 4,000 lightweight, versatile modules measuring 40 x 40 x 40 cm with slender 12mm nylon frames. They transition from black at the base to white at the top against the sky to create an impressive pixelated effect. The grid also holds an array of panels positioned to reflect or provide glimpses of the foliage beyond which sits alongside Neptunus’ double decker. The team behind the amazing concept say it is the largest installation of grid in the world.

Neptunus Managing Director April Trasler says: “designjunction’s creative team has produced an extraordinary façade which entirely covers the front of our double deck structure. The effect is quite stunning and is a totally unique process to be associated with one of our temporary structures.”

Neptunus’ 2,800 square metre double decker structure provides a two-storey space for exhibitors at designjunction 2016. The interior has a deliberate minimalist style to blend in with the chic and trendy King’s Cross location for the London Design Festival. It took a 20-strong team of Neptunus’ technicians just five days to build the temporary facility.
Over 200 cutting-edge designers are attending the show in King’s Cross cultural centre to exhibit their latest product collections in furniture, lighting and accessories.
Neptunus were appointed as temporary structure supplier on a three year contract by designjunction, a collaborative team of designers who are passionate about design. Deborah Spencer, designjunction’s Managing Director, explains why Neptunus was selected for the prestigious project:
“When you work with high-class design brands they expect high-class surroundings. Neptunus have a proven track record of delivering the finest quality, most robust and visually impressive tent structures. They are the perfect fit with the designjunction brand and we are delighted to be working with them”
