OMG! Alpha LSG present awards to Monarch's leading cabin crew

Monarch Cabin Crew have been acknowledged for outstanding in-flight sales performance at the third annual OMG! Conference, Training and Awards event staged by Alpha LSG.

The awards were presented during a dinner at the culmination of a two-day reward and recognition seminar held at the Beaumont Estate Hotel in Windsor on 1-2 March attended by 65 members of Monarch’s best performing Cabin Crew.

Paul Gurnell, Alpha LSG’s Sales and Marketing Director who hosted the ceremony, said it was an exciting time, with Alpha LSG absolutely focused on building the best in-flight retail business possible to really make a mark in the industry in terms of in-flight food and retailing.

He said Alpha LSG is investing in the development of new products, innovative marketing concepts and new sales platforms — but added that the most important asset of all is the Cabin Crew.

“The one thing in any customer or retail environment that can never be copied is people…and the wonderful Cabin Crew at Monarch are a great example of this. Your reputation for outstanding service, passion, determination and will to succeed is un-faltering, and is reflective of an approach that each and every one of you should be proud of,” he said.

Mr Gurnell added: “The efforts of Cabin Crew and your energy for selling has lifted the results to incredible levels year after year, and to ensure that this continues we understand that you need to feel engaged, committed and incentivised by the on-board retail programme. Together over the years, we have worked hard at developing programmes focused on Training & Development, Motivation & Incentives, Communication & Involvement. However, tonight, OMG! is all about recognition.”

He said that Alpha LSG and Monarch had together designed a meaningful recognition programme to reward and recognise as many people as possible who contribute to the airline’s in-flight performance on over 17,500 flights each year.

The awards evening was attended by Alpha LSG CEO Alex Forbes. Over the two action-packed days Monarch’s best performing Cabin Crew and regional management engaged with the Alpha LSG in-flight retail team who, along with their suppliers, showcased this summer’s product ranges during various energising ‘brand immersion sessions’.

They attended workshops in public speaking to help engage and confidently lead sales as well as take part in commercially-focused team-building activities such as a Masterchef and a Catwalk Challenge — designed to creatively motivate and display the brands that Monarch sells, while offering an appreciation that they are responsible for their customers’ on-board experience.

Adrian Tighe, Monarch’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “It was a pleasure to see our Cabin Crew recognised by Alpha LSG for their excellent work for in-flight service and retail. The crew really enjoyed the training days and of course, the recognition at the awards ceremony. We are immensely proud of the very high levels of customer service that our crew consistently deliver to our customers, something which we know they are all very passionate about.”
