Quick step to free tea dance at The Heath in September

Runcorn: September 7, 2015: Older But Wiser will be hosting a free tea dance at The Heath Business and Technical Park in September as part of Halton Borough Council's 'Older People's Week'.

Formed in 2012 by Heath resident and business advisor Alan McKie, Older But Wiser has been holding regular tea dances at the award-winning business park to encourage more activity among older people. However between 13:00-15:00hrs on 28 September, local residents will be able to join in free of charge thanks to the council’s initiative.

The dance will be held in The Heath’s Orchard Suite with a fund raising raffle. All proceeds will go to ‘The Apprenticeship Scheme’ — a Cheshire-based initiative training young people to look after the elderly.

Mr McKie said: “Our tea dances have proved extremely popular as they provide an ideal function for Halton’s older residents to meet and enjoy an afternoon’s entertainment. With sessions of ballroom, sequence and other types of dancing to live music provided by organist Tim Walker, there’s something for everyone.”

He added: “We are really grateful to the owners of The Heath, SOG Ltd, for their continued support providing a function room to stage our events. Our tea dances are a wonderful example of the company’s philosophy to give something back to the community as it regularly offers local groups and charities the opportunity to take advantage of the wide range of facilities available on the site.”

Lesley Lunt, The Heath Business and Technical Park’s Sales and Marketing Manager, said: “The Heath provides space for many community functions for young people such as cubs and scouts to senior citizens attending these very popular Older But Wiser Tea Dances. Although we are first and foremost a business park, we are also fully committed to supporting local community initiatives.”
