Experts bloom at Blenheim Palace Flower Show

In just under three short weeks Blenheim Palace Flower Show will burst into bloom to celebrate the very best of gardening in the UK and organiser, Aztec Events, has just added to this year’s expert line-up.

The Queen of British baking, Mary Berry, will be opening the show when it returns to the grounds of the Oxfordshire stately home from 19-21 June 2015.

While Mary Berry’s interest in cooking led her to a career as one of the nation’s favourite cookery writers and broadcasters, she has a passion for growing her own culinary herbs, fruit and vegetables – so certainly knows her way around a potting shed.

On Saturday, June 20, presenter, author and garden designer Joe Swift will be sharing his expert knowledge of landscaping, garden design and home gardening with visitors to the Palace, which was the former home of Sir Winston Churchill.

Packed with inspiration and masses of vibrant colour, the three-day event will feature quality plants, trees and shrubs as well as great products, gadgets and structures to transform your outdoor space into your own personal haven.

To join in the palace’s events marking Churchill’s commemorative year, the show will be paying homage to the wartime hero and great British icon who died 50 years ago.

At the heart of the much-anticipated event will be a 25,000 square foot ‘Victory Pavilion’ featuring over 40 stunning floral displays judged by writer and broadcaster Tim Miles and former royal gardener Jim Buttress, who is a firm favourite on BBC Two’s ‘The Big Allotment Challenge’.

Elsewhere, visitors can enjoy a stroll down ‘Winston’s Way’ and ‘Churchill’s Crescent’ to discover the inspiring show gardens displaying breath-taking outdoor spaces by some of the UK’s finest landscape designers, browse and purchase the latest products or indulge in some of the finest foods and nibbles from over 300 exhibitors.

Matt Upson, director of show organiser Aztec Events, said: “The Blenheim Palace Flower Show is going from strength to strength and in just three short years it has firmly made its mark on the horticultural calendar. We sold out of stand space in record time as the picture perfect backdrop really rivals those offered by Chelsea or Hampton Court.”

He added: “We’re delighted to expand our expert line-up as we’re expecting the 2015 show to be even bigger and better. We attract visitors from all over the UK as they really seem to appreciate that they can also explore the Palace’s 2000 acres of landscaped parkland, pleasure and formal gardens at no extra charge.”
