Neptunus in charity link-up with Cynthia Spencer Hospice

Northampton: May 1, 2015: Neptunus has adopted Cynthia Spencer Hospice as its official charity partner and launched the relationship with a cheque presentation yesterday (Thursday, April 30).

Neptunus, leading supplier of temporary structures to the global events and exhibitions industry, has its UK headquarters at Swan Valley in Northamptonshire.

Managing Director April Trasler (pictured right) said: “As a company, Neptunus is keenly aware of its corporate social responsibility and therefore wants to give something back to the community in the area from which we operate. I heard about the fantastic work being undertaken by the Cynthia Spencer Hospice in South Northamptonshire, and after discussing it with the team at Neptunus we decided it would be a really worthy cause to support.

“Most of us at some time in our lives will be in need of support from organisations such as Cynthia Spencer Hospice. I know from personal experience the tremendous amount of support and comfort they can offer families at a very traumatic time.”

Initially, Neptunus has donated £1,500 to the hospice to launch the new partnership arrangement. The cheque was presented by April Trasler to Sarah Denston who is responsible for the hospice’s events fundraising activities.

Next month many of Neptunus’ staff will be supporting ‘Make a Will Week’ from May 11-15 where law practices around Northamptonshire are offering a will-writing service in return for a donation from each participant to the hospice. Staff will also be organising other fund-raising activities throughout the year.

Sarah Denston said: “The charity is only able to raise money to support the fantastic medical staff at Cynthia Spencer Hospice due to the wonderful support it receives from the people and companies of Northampton like Neptunus. We are delighted that they have chosen the charity to raise vital funds for us throughout the year. We hope that staff at Neptunus will have a lot of fun raising funds for our charity.”

Cynthia Spencer Hospice is part NHS funded but has to raise £844,000 this year to cover operating costs. The hospice provides specialist palliative care services including inpatient care, outpatient services, Hospice@Home, lymphoedema service and palliative care clinical nurse specialist support.

There are two specialist Consultants in palliative medicine, a team of doctors and specialist nurses working within the hospice, the community as well as in Kettering General Hospital. It offers specialist physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to those with life-limiting illnesses with special focus on quality of life, respecting the uniqueness of each person.
The specialist palliative care service is jointly funded by the Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
