Neptunus on track for BMX World Championships 2015

Northampton, March 23, 2015: Neptunus has been appointed to provide temporary structures to the 2015 UCI BMX World Championships to be staged in Belgium in July.

After three years indoors, the World Cup is going back outside for what promises to be a thrilling end to the racing season with specialist temporary structure firm Neptunus providing the infrastructure for the high-profile bicycle moto cross event in Heusden-Zolder.

In an agreement signed last week with BMX Track Zolder, Neptunus will supply all facilities at the World Cup including the entrance, VIP accommodation and structures in and around the racetrack including 70 team tents, PR rooms, themed pavilions and merchandising outlets.

The event, which will attract riders from across the globe, runs from July 21-25 and will include the World Challenge for riders from the age of five as well as the BMX time trial World Championships. The world’s elite, both seniors and juniors, will compete on the final day.

Dominic Scholart, Managing Director of Neptunus in Belgium, said: "We are extremely proud to be working with BMX Track Zolder. It is an excellent reward for our hard-working staff and testament to our expertise and flexibility. We are an expert in the field of sporting events, although World Championships do have a special allure!"

The BMX track is located next to the former Formula 1 racing circuit. Organiser Gil de Vis of BMX Track Zolder said he was delighted with the agreement, adding: "For the first time in three years the BMX World Cup is taking place on an outdoor track. The 380m long track has a starting hill of 8m and three sharp curves. The racetrack is specially adapted for the World Cup and will undoubtedly provide us with spectacular races. We are very pleased that we can entrust all our temporary structures to Neptunus.”

After flying down the 8m start hill, riders will tackle the first corner, the Buchanan Bend, in honour of Australian rider and World Champion in 2012 and 2013 Caroline Buchanan. Once past the pro-section, the second corner awaits, the Pajon Curva, named after Colombia’s Mariana Pajon, reigning Olympic Champion and World Champion. Before the last straight is Post Corner, named after American rider Alise Post 2nd at the 2012 and 2014 World Championships and 1st Pro Elite Women USABMX 2014.

Riders will be able to test the track at the BMX European Cup from 3-5 April. Visit www.bmxzolder.be for more information.
