Neptunus and Oliver Newin Events link-up at Cisco Live! in Milan

Northampton: February 17, 2015: Structures supplied by Neptunus featured at Cisco Live! in Milan when the company was appointed by leading global experience marketing agency George P Johnson (GPJ) to provide extra space for Cisco’s flagship annual technical training, networking and education event.

Thousands of IT professionals attended Cisco Live! Milan 2015 which was staged at the Milano Congressi from January 26-30. However, such was the popularity of the industry’s top educational forum that additional space was required at the city’s conference centre to accommodate the numerous workshops and meetings which the event is renowned for. During the five-day long event attendees had the opportunity of joining in hundreds of sessions including seminars, training programmes and inter-active workshops which showcased the very latest developments and technological advancements in the world of IT.

GPJ appointed temporary structure specialists Neptunus to provide the solution for extra space in an assignment overseen by Oliver Newin Events (ONE), responsible for project managing the process on behalf of GPJ.

Neptunus technicians took just two days build an 860 sq metre Alure Globe structure, with access ramps and flooring, that was sectioned off into meeting rooms, offices and reception areas for the GPJ events team and representatives from their client, Cisco. Providing a specialist facility for the back-of-house team allowed vital space to be freed up inside the main arena to accommodate a special ‘meetings village’.

The Alure Globe structure, with a covered walkway, was erected on the concourse outside of the main conference centre. Neptunus’ technical team also worked closely with electrical and heating specialists to accommodate the wiring requirements and to ensure the facility was warm.

As well as co-ordinating the build of the structure, Oliver Newin was responsible for managing the internal fit-out of the facility, including carpeting and lighting – working in conjunction with the Milano Congressi’s in-house team of experts.

Mark Bannister, GPJ’s Technical Director, Cisco Live!, said: “We appointed ONE to help us source the right structure provider to fit the requirements for our back-of-house space at Cisco Live! The structure housed the George P Johnson team and our Cisco clients so the structure had to be high-quality and well insulated to help keep the team warm during cold January weather. Oliver Newin helped us navigate the various venue and local authority requirements and was onsite to oversee the build and fit out of the structure. Oliver’s involvement meant we achieved the best possible prices, the most efficient use of the space and ensured the smooth completion of the build.”

Speaking of Neptunus’ role, Mark Bannister added: “Having supplied the Cisco’s hospitality structure on the roof of Westfield shopping centre during the London 2012 Olympics, Neptunus were the natural choice of supplier for Cisco Live! when the requirement arose for a structure to house the George P Johnson and Cisco teams’ offices and back of house space onsite at the event – freeing up valuable space inside the venue for a new meeting village.

“The structure was of a high-quality and its superior insulation helped keep the team warm – to such an extent that it felt like an extension of the main venue. The build and strike teams were efficient and did a great job, maintaining a safe and tidy site and completing the build ahead of schedule. Neptunus confirmed again their position as George P Johnson’s go-to supplier for structures in Europe.”

EMEA’s next Cisco Live! will take place in Berlin on February 15-19, 2016.
