De Boer blossoms at RHS Chelsea Flower Show

A breathtaking burst of colour and spectacular array of floral exhibits attracted more than 150,000 visitors to this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

De Boer’s impressive structures provided the traditional backdrop to the world-famous extravaganza as the Queen, Prince Philip and a glittering array of celebrities strolled through the gardens for an exclusive preview before the historic site opened its doors to the public.

Multi-coloured blooms shaped into domes greeted visitors to the Great Pavilion, the show’s centre-piece designed by De Boer Structures and housing the indoor exhibits.

The 12,000-square-metre floor structure, equivalent to the size of two football pitches, is formed by linking two large modular Delta System structures via a specially adapted A-frame. The adaptations – made possible by De Boer’s market-leading flexibility and innovative approach – allow the centre of the Pavilion to accommodate the huge obelisk that towers over the exhibition area.

Brackley-based De Boer’s structures dominated the historic Royal Hospital site for the show staged from May 25 to May 29. Temporary structures included the impressive Gala hexagonal tent pavilion with a high pagoda roof for the bandstand, Pyramid structures for ‘back-of-house’ catering and offices and a 600-square-metre A-frame structure for the RHS on-site headquarters.

Celebrities to the show included Helen Mirren, Ringo Starr, Lulu, Twiggy, Nigella Lawson, Jerry Hall and comedian Rob Brydon.
