Sanofi pays tribute to long service of its Dagenham employees
Guildford – February 11, 2013 – More than 80 staff who work at Sanofi’s Dagenham manufacturing plant have received recognition for their long service to the pharmaceutical company.
Employees and their partners celebrated their achievements at a special dinner held at Harefield Manor Hotel, Romford, on Friday, February 8, hosted by Dagenham site leader Jim Moretta.
Mr Moretta told staff: “It is a great pleasure to be able to celebrate your achievement of attaining your long service milestone. Clearly, this year's event is particularly poignant, with it being our final year of operations. However, it is even more appropriate to celebrate an event such as this. The Site Leadership Team and I consider this is an opportunity for us to thank you for your loyal service – and recognise your contribution in improving the quality of life for so many patients and their families across all continents.
“I am very proud of the team at Dagenham and the spirit and commitment that I see each and every day. We are privileged as a Site Leadership Team to be able to celebrate with you at this final long service event.”
Sanofi’s plant at Dagenham, formerly known as May & Baker, has been operating for nearly 80 years. The site has been at the forefront of medical drugs research and manufacture with its oncology products distributed around the world, helping thousands of sufferers from diseases including breast, lung and prostate cancers.
Sanofi announced that the plant is closing in 2013 for commercial reasons and the company has instigated an innovative regeneration programme under the banner of ‘businesseast’ in a bid to secure a long-term legacy to attract new businesses and jobs to the location. Central to the programme is a plan to offer existing sophisticated research & development and manufacturing facilities to other companies through the creation of businesseast Science and Technology Park (BEST).
